Former President Pranab Mukherjee no more, PM Modi shares memorable photo, also declared seven days of national mourning
Two Prime Ministers were influenced by Pranab: considered Atalji as influential and Modi as a fast-learning PM; Modi had said- When Delhi came, Pranab da taught by holding the finger
Former President Pranab Mukherjee was no more with us. He died at the age of 84 years. He became President in 2012 and held the post till 2017. Even though Pranab had an association with the Congress, he was strongly influenced by the two BJP leaders Atal Bihari Vajpayee and Narendra Modi. He mentioned this in a program.
Atal ji considered Pranab to be the most effective, and Modi as the fastest learning PM. Not only this, Prime Minister Modi also said in praise of Pranab Mukherjee that when I came to Delhi, it was Pranab da who taught by holding a finger. When Pranab Mukherjee had his last day in the presidency in 2017, Modi wrote in his name in letter – President, working with you as your Prime Minister was an honor.
In this letter, Modi had mentioned that Pranab always used to ask Modi whether he was taking care of his health or not? This letter was tweeted by Pranab and said that I got emotional after reading it.
India grieves the passing away of Bharat Ratna Shri Pranab Mukherjee. He has left an indelible mark on the development trajectory of our nation. A scholar par excellence, a towering statesman, he was admired across the political spectrum and by all sections of society. pic.twitter.com/gz6rwQbxi6— Narendra Modi (@narendramodi) August 31, 2020
Pranab narrated the story related to Atalji:
Pranab narrated an anecdote related to former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee at an event in March 2017. He had said that I was in the Rajya Sabha. I suddenly saw the Prime Minister coming towards my seat. I felt embarrassed. I said – Atalji, why did you bother to come to me? You would send someone to call me. Atalji said that there is nothing. We are friends After this Atalji requested one thing from me. He said that George Fernandez is a very hard working and capable minister. Do not be too harsh for them. At that time, George was a defense minister. I told Atalji that I appreciate this. I salute you for how much you care about your colleague. This is an incident that tells how Atalji used to work.
Pranab also praised Modi
Pranab had said that Modi has his own way of working. We should give them credit for how they have learned things quickly. Prime Ministers from Charan Singh to Chandrashekhar got a chance to work for very less time. These people had a good experience of parliament, but a person comes directly from the state administration and comes here to become the head of the central government. He then specializes in relationships and external economy from other countries.
Pranab had said that after the economic downturn of 2008, a powerful organization emerged as G-20. There is a G20 summit every year and sometimes twice a year. He deals with big issues. Any Prime Minister has to get its deep knowledge. Modi did it. Modi observes things very well. I liked his point when he said that to win an election you need a majority, but to run a government, everyone needs a vote.
Modi said- Pranab taught things by holding a finger like a guardian
During the second phase inauguration of the Rashtrapati Bhavan Museum in July 2016, Prime Minister Modi had said to the then President Pranab Mukherjee that when I came to New Delhi, the President had taught me things like a guardian by holding a finger. Very few people get the opportunity that I got.
Modi had said that the most important thing is that his political background is different and mine is different, but with him I learned that despite having different political ideologies, democracy can work side by side. .
