Talaash Movie Releasing date June 1, 2012(date may change)

Director Reema Kagti is set to make a yet-to-be-titled Hindi psychological thriller film to be produced by Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani of Excel Entertainment and released on 1 June 2012.[2][3] The project will feature Aamir Khan, Rani Mukerji and Kareena Kapoor in pivotal roles.[4]

Aamir Khan, Kareena Kapoor and Rani Mukherjee have started attending workshops for their next outing together Reema Kagti’s film.

The project is yet untitled but the working title is The Act of Murder.

Though all those associated with the movie have been made to sign a non-disclosure pact, we’ve sourced out that the stars along with the supporting cast attended a recent script-reading session at a hotel in Bandra.

Since Aamir Khan wanted to release his next film, directed by Reema Kagti, on 1st June, he requested Salman Khan & Aditya Chopra to shift Ek tha Tiger to accommodate this release. Given the close relationship and mutual respect they share for one another, both Adi and Salman were happy to oblige and shift the release to Eid.

The wedding is closer for Kareena kapoor and Saif ali khan. Though the couple is tight-lipped about the much-awaited wedding, the preparations are on in full swing, reports allege.

The latest buzz on Kareena-Saif’s wedding is related to the actress’s wedding jewellery. It’s said that Bebo has ordered a royal piece of jewelry worth around Rs 40 lakh. The jewellery set is supposed to be a full-dress necklace; its length is from neck to waist. The unique designer set is generally used for royal weddings.

As per reports, a Rajkot-based Jeweller has the onus of creating this designer royal jewellery set for Kareena Kapoor. The jewelry set will apparently be made with 400 gm gold with expensive gems studded on it. It will take approximately two months to make because it requires craftsmanship and painstaking hand work.

Now, you must be thinking about Kareena’s royal wedding ensemble. Well, reportedly the ace fashion designer Ritu Kumar, who is close to Saif Ali Khan’s mother Sharmila Tagore, is busy creating the wedding attire for Kareena. With Ritu’s expertise in traditional garments, there is no doubt that the dress is going to be one of its kind.

It’s even heard that Saif is planning to gift a big diamond ring to Kareena as the wedding gift.

India is celebrating its 63 rd Republic Day on 26 Jan 2012

Republic Day, celebrated on January 26th every year, is one of India’s most important national events. It was on January 26th, 1950 that the constitution of India came into force and India became a truly Sovereign, Democratic and Republic state.

On this day, India finally enjoyed the freedom of spirit, rule of law and fundamental principle of governance. The patriotic fervor of the Indian people on this day brings the whole country together even in her embedded diversity.

Republic Day is a people’s day in a variety of ways:

It’s when regional identity takes a backseat and what matters most is the universal appeal of unity and brotherhood projected by all Indians.

The Indian constitution basically stands for the aspirations which ‘the common man of India’ cherishes.
Republic Day is a day of the citizen of the country when he is entitled to be ‘all supreme.

Republic Day is celebrated most majestically in the capital, New Delhi, where symbols of the great nation’s military might and cultural wealth are displayed in what is the world’s most impressive parade. All Government buildings are illuminated lending the city the atmosphere of a fairyland. This day is celebrated with much zeal and pride all across the nation.

The story goes like this…In a small Indian village Mandwa, Vijay Dinanath Chauhan (Hrithik Roshan) is taught by his principled father about the path of fire – Agneepath. His life is completely shattered when the evil drug dealer Kancha (Sanjay Dutt) hangs his father to death.

Vijay leaves for Bombay with his pregnant mother and has only one mission in life- to come back to Mandwa and bring back the glory of his father’s name.

In Bombay, 12-yr-old Vijay is taken under the wings of the city gang lord Rauf Lala (Rishi Kapoor). From then on it is a journey of revenge where he makes and breaks many relationships only to get closer to his aim.

A nine year girl became the world’s youngest Microsoft Certified Professional .

Computer genius Arfa Karim Randhawa, 16, from Faisalabad, Pakistan, died on Saturday night after complications resulting from an epileptic stroke.

The Microsoft Certified Professional award is a title given to those who master the company’s programs and is often used by adults to further their careers in the tech field.

Karim was subsequently invited to visit Microsoft’s headquarters in Redmond, Washington, by the conmpany’s founder Bill Gates

Karim, then ten, met with Gates and other Microsoft executives during the visit, impressing them with her knowledge of programming at such a young age.

According to Geo.TV, after Karim was taken in to hospital, Gates reached out to the family and offered to pay for her medical care. It was reported he also proposed moving Karim to the U.S. for better treatment, although doctors decided it was against her best interests given she was on a ventilator.

Her father, Amjad Karim, revealed that he was saddened to learn of her death and the loss of such a rare talent.

Funeral prayers were offered on Sunday in Lahore before her body was taken to her native village Ram Dewali, Faisalabad, for burial.

Scores of people, including Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif, ministers, politicians, friends and Karim’s fellow students gathered to support the grieving family during the procession.

According to local reports, Karim went into a coma on December 22 after suffering an epileptic attack and cardiac arrest.

She was admitted to treatment at the Combined Military Hospital in Lahore and was on life support at the Intensive Care Unit when she suffered a tracheotomy complication on Saturday evening that resulted in bleeding in her throat.

Despite earlier reports her progress had improved, doctors were unable to save her.

Karim rose to international fame when she became the youngest MCP at the age of nine in 2005.

As nation.com.pl reports, her father thanked the Microsoft founder for his efforts, and said that his daughter was a spark that ‘got attention and love from everyone on the globe.’

The young girl indeed made her country proud, representing Pakistan around the world with her incredible aptitude and skill.

Karim received the Fatimah Jinnah Gold Medal in the field of Science and Technology, presented by the Prime Minister of Pakistan in 2005, and was also the recipient of the President’s Award for Pride of Performance.

In November 2006, she was invited by Microsoft to be a part of the keynote session in the Tech-Ed Developers conference in Barcelona. She was the only Pakistani among over 5,000 developers in that conference, themed ‘Get ahead of the game’.

A permanent monument is also to be erected in her honour.

The IT Media City in Karachi will be renamed after the computer prodigy, and will now be known as Arfa Karim IT Media City, Karachi, according to local media reports.

Today Iran is the main enemy of the United States in the Middle East and in the world generally. One of the main goals of the USA is to change the current regime in Iran and to eliminate its theocratic government. Considering recent developments, the United States has all the necessary resources in the Middle East for a military intervention in Iran. On many occasions a variety of experts expressed the possibility of such a scenario. Representatives of the U.S. military leadership, according to some reports, have prepared a plan of battle that is in accordance with the Israeli army. However, vigorous discussions on the possibilities of a U.S. invasion into Iran circulate in the media without thorough analysis. It exclusively depends on the military capabilities of both countries that help to define whether the intervention in Iran will take place. It does not depend on the mood of the U.S. president. Thus, we would like to provide an objective evaluation of the military potentials of Iran that it could use against the United States. Also, we will evaluate the available forces that the United States could deploy for its military operation.

Armed Forces of Islamic Republic of Iran: The Numbers

The number of army personnel consists of 120,000 to 140,000 soldiers and officers. Conscripts number another 200,000 to 230,000. So this comes out to about 350,000 soldiers and officers on active duty.

To this we can add the IRGC, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps. It is a certain kind of guard corps that is separate from the army and reports directly to Ayatollah Khomeini of Iran, bypassing the president, defense minister and other officials. It numbers 125,000 soldiers and officers.
The mobilization capacity of the country is about 20 million people, 11 million of which have the minimum level of military training. They are members of the paramilitary volunteer militia organization called the “Basij Force.”

Armored Forces

The Armed Forces has a lot of tanks, but all of them are older models. Iran has about 650 tanks produced in the U.K. and the U.S. that were acquired before the Islamic revolution. Due to the lack of spare parts and repairs, only 25 to 30 percent of them are in service.

Over 1,000 T-72 tanks are the basis of Iranian tank forces. They mainly consist of upgraded T-72s, which are manufactured under license in Iran. There are also tanks acquired from the Soviet Union and later from Russia.

A major advantage of the Iranian military industrial complex is the independent production of tanks. First of all, its Safir-74 is based on the Soviet-made T-54 and T-55. The IRGC and the army possess about 600 to 700 units of such tanks.

The more modern “Zulfiqar” tank was produced based on the T-72. There are no more than 200 such tanks produced thus far, though it is expected to become the main combat vehicle of the Iranian armored forces in the future.

In addition, Iran produces light “Tousan” tanks, which are used in reconnaissance units. This tank is a modification of the “Borah” or “Scorpion” Infantry Fighting Vehicle. The difference is that it has more enhanced weaponry — the “Tousan” is equipped with a 90-millimeter cannon instead of the machine gun or automatic 20-millimeter cannon of the IFV.

Only the T-72 and “Zulfiqar,” which is based on the T-72, have the capability to counterstrike modern tanks. All other Iranian tanks will face heavy losses, even fighting against the enemy’s infantry.

Air Force and Air Defense

The Air Force of the Islamic Republic of Iran consists of outdated Western-made aircrafts such as the F-4, F-5, F-14 and fighting jets from Russia and China. Iran also has about 40 MiG-29 fighters and 30 Su-24 fighters. About 30 J-7 fighters, based on the Russian MiG-21, were purchased from China.

The Iranian Air Force holds about 100 AH-1J Cobra helicopters, which were bought from the United States a long time ago. It also has approximately the same number of helicopters based on the Bell-205 and Bell-206 from its own production. Out of the 100 Cobras, no more than 60 percent are in service; the rest cannot operate, due to lack of spare parts.

Iran is actively working on the development of its own aircraft. The test of the F-4-based supersonic fighter “Saeqeh” took place, and the combat-training aircraft “Tazarv” is under development.

Iranian air defense is represented by different-sized weaponry. The most modern complexes in its disposal are 10 C-200 and 29 TOR-M1 air defense missile systems. According to some reports, there are two to three C-300s, which were purchased from the Commonwealth of Independent States.

Outdated air defense systems include 45 China-made HQ-2Js, about 150 Improved Hawks and a small amount of FM-80s, also made in China.

The Iranian Air Force is unable to operate outside of its own country if striking at enemy targets. The maximum operating scale of its Air Force is in support of the army throughout the country and in providing air cover of main units of air defense and other strategic facilities.

Iranian Navy

The Iranian surface fleet consists of five destroyers, three frigates, two corvettes, 10 missile boats, 10 amphibious ships and 50 patrol boats. The majority of them are outdated models and will be quickly destroyed if they face modern warships.

The possession of three low-noise 877 “Paltus” submarines acquired from the Soviet Union have more advantages and pose a real threat to U.S. naval ships in the Persian Gulf.

Another advantage of the Iranian Navy is the shore-based HY-2 Silkworm missiles and the YJ-2s made in China. Missiles copied from Soviet-made P-15s and U.S.-made Harpoons can effectively protect the coast from enemy landing.

Iranian Missile Forces

It is one of the main components of the armed forces, and it is the most dangerous. There are three armed ballistic missiles of short and medium range. The Shihab-1 and the Shihab-2 are based on the Soviet-made SCUD missiles, and their flight ranges are 300 and 700 kilometers, respectively. The missile Shihab-3 hits targets at a distance of 1,500 kilometers.

Thus, Iranian ballistic missiles are capable of hitting any target in the Middle East, including U.S. military bases.

The Armed Forces of the United States of America

The previous information is what the Iranian army has. Let us now estimate the might of the U.S. military and the groups that it could deploy against the Iranian army.

Army

The total number of the U.S. Army is about 500,000 people. Additionally, there are another 350,000 soldiers in the National Guard; however, the probability of deploying them outside the country is extremely low. For a military operation in Iran, only a certain portion of these troops could be allocated. Considering that the U.S. currently has operations in other parts of the world and the overall size of the army, it would be able to deploy no more than 200,000 to 250,000 soldiers and officers.

It is worth taking into account that all of them are professional soldiers, well-trained and technically equipped. According to its military potential, 200,000 U.S. soldiers correspond to roughly 1.5 to two million conscripts from Iran, Russia, China or any other country in the world. We should also mention the U.S. Marine Corps, which consists of up to 60,000 soldiers and officers. This division possesses high levels of training and extensive combat experience, which are used on the tip of strike.

Armored Force

The large amount of modern military technology and the size of its army enables the United States to represent itself as the global military power. At the moment, the tank divisions are equipped with 5,850 Abrams M1A1 and M1A2 tanks in various modifications. These are the most effective modern tanks, and their performance characteristics are much better than that of the Iranian T-72S and “Zulfikar.”

In the case of a military operation, over 2,000 Abrams tanks could be used, and a number of them are already in Iraq. The rest could be quickly deployed to the Persian Gulf.

U.S. Air Force

The U.S. Air Force includes 145 strategic bombers, among which are 64 B1Bs and 19 B-2s with reduced visibility to enemy radars. There are 213 ground-attack A-10s and OA-10As to support the infantry.

Fighters include 396 F-15 Eagles, 217 F-15E Strike Eagles, 738 F-16 Fighting Falcons and 139 F-22 Raptors, which remains the leading combat fighter in the world that has been launched into mass production.

U.S. Air Force helicopters include about 60 Sikorsky HH-60Gs, known as the “Black Hawk.” They are used to support the infantry in separate operations. In addition, ground forces have a large number of helicopters for support, but structurally these helicopters are not part of the U.S. Air Force.

U.S. transport aviation has more than 400 aircraft of various modifications, including 35 giant C-5 Galaxies, 158 C-17As and 151 C-130Y/H/Js. Transport aviation resources enable the rapid redeployment of troops and equipment to any part of the world.

Unmanned aerial vehicles include 118 MQ-1 Predators, 27 MQ-9 Readers and 13 RQ-4 Global Hawks. Modern combat vehicles can strike and perform reconnaissance without a risk to pilots.

In addition, the U.S. Air Force possesses electronic warfare aircraft, airborne warning and control (124 units), aircraft and helicopters for special purposes (50 units), primary trainer aircraft and aerial refueling tanker aircraft.

The U.S. Air Force is clearly superior in its parameters to that of Iran. If a military conflict were to take place, then the U.S. Air Force would totally dominate in the air.

U.S. Navy

The U.S. Navy is the most powerful in terms of military capacity. It includes about 300 ships and is organizationally divided into six fleets and central command (one fleet).

The U.S. Navy has 11 aircraft carriers, 10 of which can carry 66 combat aircraft, including 48 F/A 18 Hornet fighters.

It also includes 22 guided-missile cruisers armed with “Tomahawk” cruise missiles, “ASROS” anti-ship missiles and “Standard” anti-aircraft missiles. Apart from them, the U.S. Navy also has 56 “Arleigh Burke” missile destroyers armed with cruise and anti-ship missiles.

Submarine forces consist of 71 nuclear submarines, 14 of which have ballistic missiles with nuclear warheads.

Amphibious ships provide the ability to transfer forces to any part of the world and to land on the enemy’s coast. They include two scale amphibious ships, 10 amphibious assault ships, nine landing helicopter dock ships and 12 amphibious transport dock ships.

In addition, the Navy has two hospital ships and 14 mine-sweeping vessels.

As you can see, the composition of the U.S. Navy leaves no doubt that it is able to suppress the Iranian coastal defense and provide for the landing of its troops.

Situation Analysis

Now let us analyze the situation in more detail. Technical indicators demonstrate that the military power of the United States is far superior to that of Iran. One of the major advantages that Iran had before Iraq was invaded is the fact that the American troops would have to land on the narrow Persian Gulf. Considering the level of Iranian coastal defense, the U.S. Navy would bear an inevitable loss. Today, Iran can be invaded from Iraq, which greatly simplifies the task of U.S. military forces.

However, this does not exclude the task of taking control over Iranian airspace. Here, the U.S. Air Force is likely to suffer heavy losses, especially if Iran really has at least one or two C-300 anti-missile defense systems. With 29 Tor-M1s along with the C-200, Iran can seriously damage the operation of American pilots. The MiG-29 is a good jet fighter, but Iran has them in too small a quantity to be able to fight for airspace on a large scale. The SU-24 is likely to be used in order to support the Iranian infantry, but they will be quickly destroyed.

Cruise missiles are best for destroying the air defenses system, but in order to launch them, the U.S. Navy should control the Persian Gulf first, which means that the U.S. has to destroy the air defense of the Iranian coast. That is, the operation of the United States would definitely begin with air strikes. The second stage is likely to be massive strikes by cruise missiles, and the invasion of ground forces would follow.

Another threat to the United States and Israel is the Iranian ballistic missile system. In the case of a successful launch, they could cause serious damage to U.S. military bases as well as to cities in Israel (Israel will definitely join the U.S. as an ally in the case of such an operation).

Therefore, the task of destroying the Iranian ballistic missile systems is another major task for the U.S. Air Force. Generally, this task is quite achievable but with inevitably significant losses.

As for ground combat, the main advantage of Iran is the fact that it has a good opportunity for quick mobilization of the Basij force. Its numerical advantage would allow the Iranian commanders give additional burden to U.S. troops. If Iran puts efforts on strengthening all population centers in the way of invading forces, then United States will be mired in street warfare for a long time.

Such a level of defense will only be achievable if Iran has several days for mobilization and organization. Moreover, the Iranian Air Force and Air Defense Forces will not be completely destroyed in the first two days of the operation. That is, the army and the IRGC will have to keep holding back U.S. troops until a reinforcement of mobilized reservists arrive from behind. In such a scenario, Iran has a good chance to deter U.S. troops successfully and even move toward waging offensive operations, despite the fact that it would lose control over the air and of the line of coastal defense.

Thus, a U.S. military operation against Iran is a serious risk for the entire American military command. Firstly, it would entail great losses in manpower and technology. Secondly, there is a chance that the United States may even lose this war and could be forced to retreat. In this case, the reputation of the United States as the greatest military power will be damaged dramatically. Thirdly, a successful attack by the Iranian missile forces could completely destroy a number of U.S. military bases in the Middle East region, leading to huge losses that would lead to the collapse of the reputation of the U.S. Army as whole.

Summary

The possibility of a military operation of the United States against the Islamic Republic of Iran is extremely low. Under current circumstances, it is hardly expected to take place.

KBC 5 has got its first contestant to win ‘Kaun Banega Crorepati 5′. Sushil kumar from Bihar who is a computer operator and a tutor has won the jackpot amount of Rs 5 crore. Sushil Kumar earns Rs 6000 per month .the episode will be telecated on 2 November.Five months back, he got married.

“I am speechless. I am not able to think or react now. This is surely a dream come true but it is something that is yet to sink in. I hope my victory will inspire people living in small towns of Bihar,” an overwhelmed Sushil said. Sushil made wise moves while answering the questions. His deftness and presence of mind saw him cross all the hurdles until he got stuck at the thirteenth question, which was about the colonial power that withdrew its involvement from the Nicobar Island in 1968.

Sushil was doubtful about the answer so he made use of two of his lifelines – Phone a Friend and Double Dip – and came up with the answer that won him the dream amount. As a youngster, Sushil wanted to take the civil services exams. He wanted to come to Delhi and prepare for the exams. However, he could not do so as he was unable to afford the expensive coaching classes in the Capital. Now, after having won the bounty, Sushil plans to enroll himself at a prominent coaching institute in Delhi and start preparing for his dream job.

But the first thing that he plans to do with the prize money is get a wellfurnished house for his wife, who has always dreamt of living in a lofty apartment. For the time being, though, Sushil is enjoying the attention showered by the media on him.

Ghazal King ,A Famous Indian Ghazal singer passes away

The 70-year-old singer, who alongwith his wife Chitra almost rediscovered the ghazal genre for common Indian in 70s and 80s, was admitted to the Lilavati hospital on September 23 and was in coma since then.

“Jagjit Singh passed away at 8.10 am after having a terrible hemorrhage,” said Dr Sudhir Nandgaonkar, hospital spokesperson, here.

The day he was admitted, he was supposed to perform at a concert at Shanmukhananda Hall, Matunga, in Mumbai but the programme was cancelled after he was taken ill.

Despite a surgery, his condition did not improve and he remained on life support.

Singh, a Padma Bhushan recipient, was born in Sri Ganganagar, Rajasthan, on February 8, 1941.

After graduation, he shifted base to Mumbai, to explore career in the world of music. In the next decade and half, he earned nationwide fame as ghazal singer and music composer. He sang in several languages, including Hindi, Punjabi, Bengali, Gujarati, Nepali.

His personal life, though, was marked by a tragedy: His only son, Vivek, died in a car accident in 1990 when he was just 18.

Job Prospects for MBA-power graduates

Though MBA degree has been quite popular in India since the opening of economy in mid 1990s, MBA in power management is a comparatively new course. Persons holding power management degree have ample employment opportunities in private as well as public sector. In these days of globalization and liberalization, it is likely to get further momentum as more power managers would be required to deal with the growing complications of rapidly expanding Indian power sector. There are many areas where MBA-power graduates are heavily required such as power resource management, environment impact assessment, power auditing, power efficient systems/technologies, power generation, transmission, distribution, power sector laws, power policies, power security, power pricing, power economics, power tariffs and power trading etc.

Opportunities in Public Sector

There are many governmental organizations such as National Thermal Power Corporation, Damodar Valley Corporation, Power Finance Corporation, Power Grid Corporation of India Limited, various state level power generation companies and power suppliers that are providing ample job opportunities to MBA-power graduates. These companies are advertising the vacancies in leading national/ local newspapers and posting the same on their websites. These companies usually ask for 60 percent or above in graduation and post graduation level. A person fulfilling the eligibility criteria can apply for the post after depositing the fee amount. Their recruitment process consists of mainly three stages- written test, group discussion and personal interview. Sometimes, a technical interview may also be conducted. The final selection is based on the overall performance of the candidate. Reservation to SC/ST/OBC/Ex-serviceman/physically handi- capped candidates is extended as per government rules. A few public sector companies are also hiring the candidates from some elite B-schools through campus interviews. In the beginning, selected candidates have to work on probation for one or two years and on the successful completion of probation period they are absorbed in regular pay scale.

Opportunities in Private Sector

Private sector has a great role to play in Indian power sector. As already discussed, there are many big names that have registered their strong presence in the sector. At present, private sector accounts for 19 percent in the total installed capacity of nation and it is set to increase about 5 times in next 6 to 7 years. Moreover, in addition to power generation, now private players are extending financial and technical assistance to government in erecting power plants and other facilities, financing the ultra mega power projects, involved in power trading, evolving clean energy development mechanism, supplying the power and managing the energy resources etc. Thus, it goes without saying that huge job potential exists in rapidly growing private sector for MBA-power graduates. As far as their selection criterion is concerned, it varies from company to company. However, most of them are hiring on the basis of personal interview of eligible candidates. Private companies are also approaching top notch B-schools for campus selection.

Power Consultancy

MBA-power graduates can also work as an independent power consultant after obtaining adequate experience and expertise. Power consultants advise power producers and suppliers on different issues such as installation of power plant, efficiency of plant, optimum resource mix, quality and reliability of power, impact on environment, reducing emission of hazardous gases, curtailing transmission and distribution losses, power auditing, compliance with government norms and ensuring uninterrupted supply to end users etc. Besides, there are many other functional and operational areas where they may extend an expert advice. They also render their services to commercial and industrial establishments.

As a power consultant has to assess wide ranging, complex, technical and critical issues of power sector, one needs to gain adequate experience, skill and knowledge before beginning to work as a consultant. The power management graduates who have been blessed with inherent entrepreneur acumen may find it a fascinating career option.

Teaching

MBA-power graduates with good academic record, particularly holding Ph.D degree or published work of a high standard, can take up jobs in any university/institute offering power management courses to students. There is wide scope for visiting faculty as private universities are coming up in large number and they prefer such persons because of their eminence and acumen. Possessing prescribed passing score in UGC-NET examination is a desirable qualification for teaching profession.

Remuneration

Remuneration depends upon the field a MBA-power graduate chooses. If one prefers to work in a government department or in public sector or in a university or in any other organization where government rules are applicable he/she will be entitled to get emoluments as per pay scales prescribed by the government from time to time. The salary depends on the designation and nature of work. In private sector, national and multinational companies are hiring young MBA- power graduate on good annual packages depending on the standing of the company. However, power graduates who begin to work as power consultants may have to struggle in the early stage but their knowledge and steady efforts may help them to succeed at the end of day. The earnings of a well-settled consultant may see no boundary.

Course Details & Eligibility Criteria

MBA-power management course is designed with an objective of developing business acumen among the students and to equip them with the knowledge of the concepts, theories and managerial skills required for the effective management of power sector. It intends to develop efficient business leaders and decision-makers capable of running power sector effectively and efficiently.

One can either pursue a two-year MBA course in power management after graduation in any branch of engineering or a five-year integrated course after twelfth standard examinations, leading to a B.E., MBA degree . However, some universities like University of Petroleum and Energy Studies requires only graduation with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics as compulsory subjects. Most of the universities/ institutes ask for minimum first division on graduation level. The candidates must have appeared either in CAT or MAT examination. Though most of the universities conduct their own written test, however students who have scored minimum prescribed score in CAT and MAT examination are exempted from their written tests. They only need to go for group discussion and personal interview. The final selection is made on the basis of master merit list.

The MBA-power management programme necessarily includes about eight weeks summer training project in a power or associated company after completion of first year. This is the compulsory requirement for the completion of the course. Other than MBA-power management degree, many universities also offer other BBA degree in power management that is a graduation level course. After completing MBA-power management, one with an appetite for research can also join Ph.D. course.

Fields of Power Sector

An MBA-power graduate can make his/her career in any of the following fields-
1. Power Resource Management
2. Power Generation, Transmission and Distribution
3. Carbon Financing Market
4. Power Trading
5. Power Project Planning and Financing
6. Clean Energy Development Mechanism
7. Power Sector Laws and Regulations
8. Economics of Power Demand and Supply and Policy Aspects
9. Power Planning

Universities/ Institutes offering MBA-power management course

MBA-power management being comparatively new course in India is being offered only by a few universities and institutes in India. However, in view of rapidly rising power sector, many existing and upcoming universities/ institutes are set to start this course.

The above are providing MBA degree in power management. Besides, there are many institutions IITs like IIT Delhi, IIT Mumbai and IIT Kharagpur etc that are offering M.Tech degree in power engineering. The persons holding M.Tech degree in power engineering are also very well accepted in managerial cadre in all power sector companies. There are many other universities like Pandit Deendayal Petroleum University, Gandhinagar and UPES, Dehradun which are offering MBA degree either in energy management or in oil and gas management which is equally important.

Those particularly with engineering background who are thinking to pursue MBA course in future can certainly opt for MBA-power management which is set to become most alluring career option in the years to come. This will also help them to tap tremendous job opportunities available in Indian power sector.

*Note: The eligibility criteria have been discussed only as broad guide line. The aspirants are advised to refer to concerned university/ institute website or prospectus for detailed and exact information.

Shattering the 17-month lull since the German Bakery blast in Pune, terror struck rush-hour Mumbai today.

Twenty one people were killed and more than 100 injured as three near-simultaneous bomb explosions — all planted in garbage heaps — hit some of the most congested parts of the city once again striking fear in the financial capital.

The attack came nearly two years and eight months after the previous terror strike on the city, the November 26, 2008 attacks by 10 Lashkar-e-Toiba gunmen which killed 165 people.

It also came two days after the city marked the fifth anniversary of 7/11 when 188 people were killed in serial blasts on local trains and at railway stations during the evening rush hour.

The Centre and the state government said there was no doubt that the latest strike was also a terror attack even though the intensity was not as high as the previous two.

It is so disgusting that it happened second time with financial and commercial capital of the country.
